Brief Introduction of UPS System


UPS(Uninterruptible Power System/ Uninterruptible Power Supply), also uninterruptible power source. It connects storage battery(mainly maintenance-free lead acid storage battery) with host and transfer direct current into alternating current through module circuit, such as host inverter. It provides stable and uninterruptible power supply for single computer, computer network system or other power electrical apparatus, such as electromagnetic valve, pressure transmitter. When power inputs normally, UPS will stabilize the alternating current and then provide it for load use, now UPS is an alternating current voltage stabilizer, at the same time, it charges out of built-in battery; when the alternating current is cut off(unexpected power failure), by means of inverter zero conversion, UPS will immediately supply direct current in battery to load with 220V alternating current, keeping the load running well and protecting load software and hardware from damage.



UPS Theory


When the alternating current is normal for 380/220V, DC(direct current) main circuit provides DC voltage for DC - AC(alternating current) inverter, outputs stable 220 v or 380 v AC voltage and charges the battery after rectification at the same time. When AC is under voltage or blackout suddenly, the batteries will carry electricity to DC main circuit through isolating diode switches. There is no switching time from grid power supply to battery power supply. When the battery energy is running out, uninterruptible power supply will send out sound and light alarm, discharge the battery limit point to stop inverter’s work and warn sirens. Uninterruptible power supply also has overload protection function, when overload (150% overload)  happens, it will convert to bypass state and the returns to normal state automatically. When serious overload (more than 200% rated load) happens, uninterruptible power supply will immediately stop the output of inverter and convert to bypass state, at the moment, the input air switch may also trip. After eliminating the breakdown, close the switch and reboot, the machine will return to work.
